| Live Blood Analysis (LBA) |
The real-time observation of fresh, unprocessed capillary blood under a darkfield microscope, used as a holistic health screening tool. Also called Live Blood Microscopy or Live Blood Cell Analysis. Not a medical diagnostic procedure. |
| Live Blood Microscopy |
Alternative term for Live Blood Analysis. Refers to the microscopic observation of living (unprocessed, unstained) blood cells. |
| Live Blood Cell Analysis |
Another term for Live Blood Analysis or Live Blood Microscopy. All three terms refer to the same holistic assessment technique. |
| Dry Blood Analysis |
A complementary technique to Live Blood Analysis in which a drop of blood is allowed to clot and dry on a microscope slide. The dried pattern is interpreted to indicate levels of oxidative stress, toxicity, and nutritional imbalance. Also known as the Oxidative Stress Test or Dried Blood Layer Analysis. |
| Oxidative Stress Test |
Alternative term for Dry Blood Analysis. The test examines dried blood patterns as indicators of oxidative stress in the body. |
| Dried Blood Layer Analysis |
Another term for Dry Blood Analysis / Oxidative Stress Test. Refers to the examination of the layered clot pattern formed when blood dries on a microscope slide. |
| Darkfield Microscope |
A microscope using darkfield illumination — light is directed from the sides, causing subjects to appear bright against a dark background. Darkfield microscopy allows detailed observation of living blood cells that would be invisible under standard brightfield illumination. Required equipment for Live Blood Analysis. |
| Darkfield Microscopy |
The microscopy technique used in Live Blood Analysis. Oblique lighting illuminates blood cells against a dark background without staining or processing the sample, allowing the practitioner to observe blood in its living state. |
| Phase Contrast Microscopy |
A microscopy technique that converts differences in the refractive index of cell structures into visible contrast, allowing unstained cells to be observed in detail. Sometimes used as an alternative to darkfield microscopy for live blood analysis, though darkfield is generally preferred for its clarity of cell and plasma detail. |
| Brightfield Microscopy |
The most common form of light microscopy, in which the sample is illuminated directly from below against a bright background. Brightfield microscopy is not suitable for live blood analysis in its standard form, as unstained living blood cells have insufficient contrast to be observed clearly. Darkfield or phase contrast microscopy is required instead. |
| Internal Terrain |
A concept in holistic health referring to the overall quality and balance of the internal biological environment — the blood, fluids, and tissues of the body. Live blood analysis is used to assess the state of the internal terrain. |
| Capillary Blood |
Blood drawn from a capillary, typically by a small finger-prick. In live blood analysis, a drop of capillary blood is used for microscopic observation because it provides a fresh, minimally disturbed sample. |
| Blood Indication |
An observable characteristic of the blood — such as the shape, size, aggregation, or behaviour of blood cells, or the presence of specific structures in the plasma — noted during a live blood analysis session and used to guide the practitioner's assessment. |
| Indication Scoring |
The process of rating the prevalence or severity of specific blood indications observed during a live blood analysis session. AnalystAssist includes a dedicated indication scoring tool within each appointment record, allowing comparison across sessions. |
| Live Blood Analysis Software |
A dedicated software category for practice management platforms used by live blood analysis practitioners. Integrates with darkfield microscope cameras, manages client records and appointment history, supports indication scoring, and generates practitioner reports. AnalystAssist is the only dedicated platform of this kind. |
| SaaS (Software as a Service) |
A software delivery model in which the application is hosted in the cloud and accessed via a web browser, rather than installed locally. AnalystAssist is a SaaS platform — practitioners can use it on any device with internet access, with no local installation required. |
